Understanding sensor LED lights

The LED light on your Invisible Systems sensor flashes in different patterns to indicate what it is doing. This guide explains what each pattern means so you can quickly identify whether your sensor is working normally or needs attention.

If your sensor is showing an error pattern and you are not sure what to do, contact support with a description of the flash pattern you can see — for example "3 medium flashes, pause, repeat."

When You First Power On

Pattern What It Means
5 short flashes (very quick) Normal start-up — the sensor is charging its internal capacitors. Wait a few seconds.

During Start-Up

Pattern What It Means
5 × medium flashes Sensor restarted due to a watchdog timeout. Normal if occasional — contact support if this happens frequently.
1 very short flash Sensor type detected successfully. Normal start-up.
1 × medium flash Sensor type detection failed. Contact support.
1 × short flash (after start-up) Sensor is running normally.
2 × short flashes (after start-up) Sensor is not yet commissioned (sleeping). Contact support if this is unexpected.

Connecting to the Network

Pattern What It Means
3 × medium flashes Sensor has successfully connected to the network. All good.
3 × short flashes Sensor is attempting to connect to the network manually.
3 × long flashes Manual connection attempt failed. Check signal strength and try again, or contact support.

During Normal Operation

Pattern What It Means
3 × short flashes Sensor is in forced sleep mode.
1 × medium flash Minor error — sensor continues running. Monitor; contact support if it persists.
2 × medium flashes Error — sensor is rebooting automatically.
Solid light for 10 seconds Error — sensor is rebooting automatically. Contact support if this recurs.

When to Contact Support

Contact support if:

  • The sensor shows a solid light for 10 seconds more than once.
  • The sensor flashes a connection failure pattern repeatedly.
  • The sensor has no lights at all and you have checked the power supply and battery.
  • The sensor appears online in Live but readings are not updating.
When contacting support, note down the flash pattern you are seeing — this will help the team diagnose the issue quickly.
